Plumbing services in Doonside
We cover everyday household plumbing in Doonside, and we diagnose properly before quoting so you are deciding with the full picture. Where a system depends on equipment rather than gravity, we will explain what that means for maintenance before it becomes a problem.
Our plumbing services in Doonside
Drainage and pumped systems, blocked drains and camera inspections, hot water, burst and leaking pipes, taps and toilets, gas fitting, and roof plumbing. For a burst pipe or a serious leak, turn the water off at the mains tap before you call. If water is anywhere near power points, the switchboard or light fittings, stay clear and treat it as an electrical hazard. Do not enter standing water in a room with live power.
1. Licensed for the work
Rapid Service Plumbing is a licensed plumbing business and our licence details are published on this site. Plumbing, drainage and gas fitting are licensed trades in New South Wales, and every plumber who attends a job in Doonside is licensed for the work they carry out.2. A written quote before we start
You get a written quote before any work starts, covering labour, parts and any other costs. If we find something unexpected once we are on site, we stop and talk it through with you before going further.
3. We find the cause, not just the symptom
A drain that keeps blocking or a tap that keeps dripping usually has an underlying reason. Where it matters we will investigate properly, including a camera inspection on drainage, so you are deciding with the full picture rather than paying twice for the same problem.
4. Options explained, not one answer
Repair and replacement are often both possible, and they suit different situations. We will tell you what each involves and what it means for the life of the fixture, then leave the decision with you.
5. Safety-sensitive work treated as such
Gas, hot water and anything involving water near electrical fittings carry real risk. We will tell you plainly when something should not be attempted at home and when a licensed professional needs to handle it.

Plumbing questions from Doonside residents
Questions we are regularly asked. If yours is not answered here, call the Sydney office on 02 9099 9138.
How do I know whether something is urgent?
As a rough guide, treat it as urgent if water is escaping and you cannot stop it, if there is no water at all, if sewage is coming back inside, or if you can smell gas. Most other problems can be booked in. If water is flowing, turning off the mains stop tap buys time either way.
Is there anything I should do before the plumber arrives?
Clear access to the area if you can, and know where your mains stop tap is. If the problem involves a fixture that is still leaking, turning off the isolating valve under it, or the mains if there is no isolator, prevents further damage while you wait.
How would I know if a sump pump has stopped working?
Often only when water appears, which is why periodic testing matters. Checking that the pump runs when the float is lifted, and that water actually leaves through the discharge line, confirms it works. A pump that has sat unused for a long period can seize without any outward sign.
Why does a pump need its own maintenance?
Because unlike a gravity drain it has moving parts and depends on power. Float switches stick, impellers block, and discharge lines obstruct. A gravity drain fails only if it blocks; a pump has several more ways to stop.
What happens if the power goes out?
A mains powered pump stops. If the consequence of that would be significant, it is worth discussing backup arrangements or at minimum a high water alarm, so a failure is noticed before water reaches anything valuable.
