Why does our backyard flood when big rain and a high tide arrive together?
Because both ends of your drainage are under pressure at once: the sky is filling the pits while the raised water table slows the outflow. Low-lying blocks handle this only when pits are clean, lines are clear and any pump is healthy. We service exactly that combination, and where an original system genuinely cannot cope, we quote upgrades such as a larger pit, a pump well or an additional line.
Our sewer pump alarm went off. How urgent is that?
Treat it as urgent. The alarm means the well is filling faster than it is emptying, and the buffer between an alarm and an overflow is usually hours, not days. Stop putting water down the drains, then call us. Common causes are a failed pump, a stuck float switch or a jammed non-return valve, all fixable on the spot with the right parts, which our vans carry for the common units.
Garden taps here seize up and corrode within a few years. Is that normal?
On the canals, unfortunately, yes: salt air attacks standard zinc-alloy and lower-grade brass fittings quickly. The fix is specifying dezincification-resistant brass or stainless fittings, which cost a little more and last several times longer this close to salt water. When we replace outdoor tapware in Sylvania Waters we fit those grades as standard and check the isolation valves while we are there.
Does being built on reclaimed land actually affect our plumbing?
It can. Filled ground settles unevenly over decades, and buried pipes respond by opening at the joints, which shows up as recurring blockages or damp ground with no obvious cause. A camera inspection reveals whether joints have displaced. Many can be sealed from the inside with relining; the genuinely broken sections are repaired at the exact point of failure rather than by guesswork excavation.
We are adding an outdoor kitchen by the pool. What plumbing should we plan for?
Water supply, drainage for the sink, a gas point if you are cooking on gas, and possibly an outdoor shower alongside. On a canal block the drainage route needs thought first, since falls are shallow, and every exposed fitting should be a marine-grade specification.
